Invocans Use Volunteer Time Off to Give Back to Their Communities

As a leader in conversation intelligence, and a Great Place to Work certified company for three years in a row, Invoca is committed to providing top-notch benefits for its employees. These include generous PTO, stock options, family leave, mental health services, financial planning resources, and a wellness subsidy.

In addition, Invoca has programs to help employees give back to their communities. To increase the impact of employee charitable donations, Invoca matches up to $50,000 of donations per year. Employees also receive 24 hours of paid volunteer time off per year that they can use to support whatever causes or organizations matter to them.

Every year, we’re inspired by how Invocans use their volunteer time to make a difference. You can check out some of their stories below.

Maria Ogneva Volunteers at a Toy Drive for Survivors of The Boulder Wildfires

Maria Ogneva is Director of Customer Marketing & Community at Invoca. She used her volunteer time to help those affected by the recent wildfires around the Boulder, Colorado area.

“After a terrible fire spread across several towns around Boulder, I was looking for a way to help those who had lost everything,” said Ogneva. “As a parent, I couldn't stop thinking about the kids who lost all of their toys. I brought some of my son’s toys to a toy drive organized by CU (University of Colorado), along with some donations from neighbors. I was happy to learn that this toy drive needed volunteers to sort and distribute the donations. I was able to spend half of my Friday working with 10 other volunteers sorting a huge room of toys and books. The next day, we set them up at a local library and were able to welcome kiddos to ‘shop’ for their new favorite toys.”

Zoë Georgakis Volunteers at Amtrak’s Trails and Rails Program

Zoë Georgakis is Head of People Operations & Total Rewards at Invoca. She used her volunteer time to help out with Amtrak’s Trails and Rails program, which is a collaboration between Amtrak and the National Park Service.

“From the sightseer lounge car of the Coast Starlight Route between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, I provided passengers with a unique perspective on the area and its history,” said Georgakis. “Many passengers are from other parts of the country and the world and I enjoy talking with them about rail travel where they come from while sharing stories about my home state.”

Anneke McGrady Volunteers at Dry Creek Elementary

Anneke McGrady is a Lead Production Support Engineer at Invoca. She used her volunteer time to help out at her son’s kindergarten classroom at Dry Creek Elementary.

“Like all schools, my son’s has been short on staff,” said McGrady. “So I volunteered to help support the teachers in small groups for math, literacy, and more. It was a rewarding experience, and it was nice to have specific time off allocated for volunteering so I didn't have to use my PTO.”

Shahab Lashkari Volunteers at His Local COVID-19 Vaccination Site

Shahab Lashkari is a Staff Software Engineer at Invoca. He used his volunteer days to help out at his local COVID-19 vaccination site.

“I had already been volunteering at my vaccination site on weekends,” said Lashkari. “It was nice to be able to fill a less popular weekday slot because of Invoca's volunteer time off policy. While my job was mostly to sanitize chairs and direct people where to go, it was extremely rewarding to be able to help out at a time that otherwise felt helpless.”
